Contributing to Canalplan

If you've enjoyed using this program, you can help put back something into the effort by providing some material of your own.

I'm interested in receiving any of the following:

• Descriptions of places along the waterways, to add to the gazetteer
• Photographs of places - these should be in jpg or png format, of around 20-30k in size
• Reviews of pubs, restaurants etc
• Appropriate quotes for the quote-of-the-day message
• Anything else you think could be usefully incorporated

Email anything short and textual, or single photographs, to me at "contribs [at] canalplan [dot] org [dot] uk".

If you want to send me megabytes of information, email me first to discuss it, or put it on a web page or ftp site and let me know about it.

If you have a knack for layout or graphic design (which I most definitely do not) then I'd be very interested in any of the following:

• A standard windows icon that I could use for the programme (perhaps a pair of lock gates or something). This would be used as an icon on webbrowsers, and also on the stand-alone version
• A new logo (to replace the one at the top of this page)
• Redesigned layout for any of the pages - please take a copy of an existing page, hack it around, and send me the new version. Although most of the pages are dynamically generated, if you produce a static version I can change the code to generate this layout

All information and work will be credited to the author in the database and you will be added to my list of people who've contributed. Please note, however, that the information will also be included in future releases of the software to the public. If you don't want your data to be used in this way, then let me know when sending it and I'll make sure it is removed from any downloadable version (you'd be the first to do so!).
