Nick's Canal Route Planner - Canalplan AC is a comprehensive guide to the UK's inland waterways, it plans journeys, calculates the length (distance, number of locks, time taken etc) of your trip and shows gazetteer information on places along the way (pubs, shops and museums). Canalside events you might pass are listed. If you have never used the software before, I recommend that you read the introduction before going any further.

The Waterways are under threat - see Save Our Waterways campaign.

This is the stable release of CanalPlanAC, but all development effort is now going into a new version. You can explore the beta version here. When all the key features have been migrated, this will be replaced by that version.

You either have a browser that doesn't support javascript, or you have javascript turned off. Although this site is carefully designed to work as well as possible without javascript, it works more smoothly with it - if you have the option, please try turning it on. Many of the newer features, including the ability to edit the intermediate place list and the map functions depend on Javascript.
